In a world that is constantly evolving, the company is reinventing new trends both in its management and in its spatial functioning.
Transforming, experimenting, adapting are words that we hear almost everywhere now, a world that is transforming is an economy that is inevitably followed by new practices, consequently the company is immediately involved since it is the driving force of the economy, the adaptation of these new practices both in terms of operation and management highlights the importance of agility in work spaces.
What could we know about agile spaces?
- Juxtaposition of agile management practices in space: integrating spaces and functionalities that allow rapid gatherings of project teams; place the agile process in flexible spaces;
- Many people know the famous expression taken from the title of the book:
L’Openspace m’a tuer
Alexandre Des Isnards
Does agile space necessarily imply open space?
Rhetoric relating to the field of activity and the way in which we use space, Openspace is today controversial for cultural reasons but also for lack of understanding of usage, it is not obligatory but implies new behaviors.
the designer has a dual mission, to respect the organizational model of the company but also to design additional spaces which allow individual, semi-collective and collective-collaborative uses; ( Brainstorming spaces, informal spaces, project areas, etc.).
- A transversal organizational model is immediately considered agile since we intervene at the level of the skeleton of the company, its functioning must be reflected in its operating area and therefore its workspace. A pyramidal mode or a transversal mode will operate in a different way and will act differently in a space.
- Support for change: if you have not yet passed the threshold of agile space, consider really communicating the use of each space at its fair value, it is essential to clearly explain the interest and function of every space designed. An unused space is a waste of space and money, the whole point of agile spaces lies in the interactivity that we create through the different experiences between users.
What you need to remember is quite simple, agility is not necessarily synonymous with total openness, the importance of properly designing agile spaces is in understanding the organizational model first, before standardizing it.
It is relevant to question the function of each space and to create rest and/or recreation spaces which allow intense production sequences to be cut into open space, it is possible to have fun at work too if the space lends itself to it.
It is all the more important to properly support teams through change since we encourage them to change their behavior in a new professional environment.
Agile space or traditional partitioned space, one does not prevent the other!
